Activities and Attractions

Activities

The White Horse Inn is ideally situated for gentle walking or serious hiking, fishing, golf, village cricket, and field sports.

The Quantock Hills and the whole of Exmoor and the West Somerset coastline are within easy reach. Enjoy 36 miles of stunning Somerset countryside along the Coleridge Way or the rugged coastline of The South West Coast Path.

Or simply relax in the courtyard and enjoy a game of skittles. You'll soon appreciate The White Horse Inn is the perfect place to enjoy a few days away.

For visitors wishing to participate in outdoor pursuits, early breakfast and packed lunches can be arranged. There are also facilities for drying 'wet weather gear', and your dog is also very welcome by prior arrangement.

Attractions

The picturesque village of Stogumber is wonderful mixture of local architecture with a mix of colour-washed and thatched cottages. Stroll around the village, enjoy rural Somerset at it's best. Make sure you pay a visit to the architecturally significant Church of St Mary's that lies at the heart of the village.

Stogumber Station, about a mile from the village, provides convenient access to the West Somerset Steam Railway on which you can recapture the era of steam.

Explore other local villages. Perhaps the ancient harbour town of Watchet or the medieval village of Dunster with it romantic castle. Or visit the Cistercian abbey of Cleeve which dates back to the 12th century.

Finally, if you have the energy try Tropiquaria "animal and adventure park" - a great day out for adults and children.
